Welcome to the 'Venice of the east' project of UNICELL

In order to attract foreign investment in the city's infrastructure, a Mumbai makeover project costing Rs. 36,600 crore is proposed. This will make Mumbai an appealing destination for the multinationals to put their money. Thus 'BOMBAY FIRST'…
'MNC-S BEFORE THAT' and …'CITIZENS LAST' is our motto. We therefore need to sweep all the dirt under the carpet.

As part of the urban renewal plan The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation and the Maharashtra Government has led the attack with teams of bulldozers. They managed to crush 90,000 shanties but the damn people escaped. The Govt. made a second attempt when they surfaced on the 6th of April 2005, but the helpless police, armed with only lathis against the caustic and high decibel slogan shouting, could manage only to injure a few women and kids. They did what they could, and as a sign of their professional commitment, one of the injured kids is still in an ICU.

However we feel that the vision of the city's future has not sufficiently taken into consideration it's historical and cultural past. Keeping in mind various, aesthetic, economic and heritage considerations, we propose a plan to make Mumbai the "Venice of the East" rather than, Shanghai or Singapore.

You have probably received the following letter, if not we are sorry for the oversight.
We have printed the letter below for your perusal.
