If your heart beats for Mumbai- For the satin smooth roads and flyovers, for our expensive tyres and shock absorbers and our breath taking post modern landscape of steel and glass- (so much like Manhattan or Shanghai, no?)The others can take their buses and trains to commute between their jobs and home … if they have either! If they don't have jobs because the mills have shut down, they should stop acting like the dog in the manger and at least let the builder lobby get that paltry sum they will make by building malls and offices for the MNC-s that are coming…why don't these jobless/homeless go back to where they came from? They can go back and do farming … if that is difficult because of the loan sharks and expensive seeds and no schemes from the government to buy what they produce, and the water crisis…. to quote from history "if they don't have water why don't they drink pesticide?" lots of farmers have done that. The government is trying to build mega dams for these farmers but then the damn 'indigenous' people go and throw a spanner in the water works! The government has no alternative forest land to offer them… Wonder what their romanticism is about living with nature in the jungles?! Ask us city people where the life is… where the money and opportunities are (and where they had better remain) Well, these 'indigenous' people have to embrace development, make progress … but when their turn comes… currently it is our turn… progress and development imagine if it was equal what a nightmare!
